Chicago Veterans Ruck March
Join us for our Chicago Veterans Ruck March and help raise awareness of suicide prevention efforts and fight to reduce the stigma around mental health. We’re addressing an important issue that affects many people every single day, including our military veteran community. An estimated 126 people die by suicide each day in the US, 17 of them being military veterans. Join us in our mission to spread awareness and reduce the stigma!
Every Memorial Day weekend since 2014, veterans, family members, and friends from all over the United States come together to walk in honor and remembrance of those we lost at home and on the battlefield. This year our Ruck March is 17-miles instead of 22-miles representing the 17 veterans we lose every single day to suicide, down from 22 veterans a few years ago.
Participate from anywhere virtually or attend in person. This year we are hosting the event on a Saturday starting and ending at the same location! Our event will start at Midway Plaisance Park on University of Chicago’s campus and continue to Chicago’s Lakefront Trail right past Navy Pier at Milton Lee Olive Park which has one of the best views of the city. We will then head back to Midway Plaisance Park for food, music, drinks and more! Invite your friends and family to join us on our route or map your own course. Completing your miles can be fun, you can walk. run, jog, or ride a bike.
