Celebrating Latina Excellence: Latina Veterans Roundtable Event
Latinas have a proud history of serving in the U.S. military. Despite the challenges they face as women of color, Latina military veterans have made significant contributions to the armed forces and to our country. However, the transition from military to civilian life can be challenging, and many Latina veterans face cultural barriers, a lack of representation in leadership roles and struggle accessing the resources and support they need to thrive. Building a strong network of support can be a powerful tool for Latina veterans to overcome these challenges and achieve their goals.
To address these issues, fellow Chicago Veterans board member Leslie Rodriguez has started hosting Latina Veteran Roundtable events. “These events bring together Latina Veterans from a range of backgrounds and experiences to share their stories, experiences, discuss common challenges and successes, and build a supportive community of Latina Veterans.” These roundtable events allow each other to share common challenges faced by Latina Veterans and discuss potential solutions.
The Latina Veteran Roundtable events will consist of a series of panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. The event will feature Latina Veterans from a range of backgrounds and experiences, including active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members, as well as those who have transitioned to civilian life.
The event will be structured around several key themes, including leadership, career development, mental health, and community involvement. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in small group discussions and workshops, as well as network with one another and with potential mentors and allies.
The Latina Veteran Roundtable event is a crucial step towards empowering Latina Veterans and creating a more inclusive and supportive community. By providing a platform for Latina Veterans to share their stories and experiences, and by discussing common challenges and potential solutions, we can help Latina Veterans overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
